Kathryn Gimborys

Senior Government Affairs Associate

Kathryn Gimborys is the Senior Government Affairs Associate at the Institute for Higher Education Policy (IHEP). In this role, she supports IHEP’s advocacy agenda by managing legislative outreach and coalition engagement and monitoring policy developments at federal and state levels. Kathryn previously served as both a communications associate and communications intern at IHEP, assisting with media engagement, product and messaging development, and social media content and strategy. Before joining IHEP, Kathryn served as an education policy intern at the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, & Pensions and at several civil rights organizations, including The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, People for the American Way, and the American Civil Liberties Union of Texas.

Kathryn earned her B.A. in political science from The George Washington University. She is currently an M.P.P. candidate at the McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University.

As a former community college transfer student and as a student who took time off before graduating, Kathryn observed first-hand many of the barriers that today’s students face on their path to a degree or credential. Kathryn brings these experiences, and the experiences of her classmates, to her advocacy. Through her work at IHEP, Kathryn is advancing federal and state policies to combat barriers, promote attainment, and reimagine our postsecondary system around the needs, experiences, and potential of today’s students.
