Washington, D.C., April 2, 2007—The Institute for Higher Education Policy today unveiled a new identity to better reflect its mission as a global policy leader for increasing access and success in postsecondary education. The image shift is part of a strategic re-branding effort catalyzed by the organization’s growing national and international reach and its substantial accomplishments in subspecialties such as financial aid structures, government funding formulas, global ranking systems, and national planning for higher education.

The Washington, D.C.-based agency Design Army created the Institute’s new image, which includes a contemporary-style logo that prominently features the shortened moniker, “IHEP,” to signify the consistent use of the acronym following the first mention of its name. The award-winning creative firm also revitalized the Institute’s publication package (research and policy reports, evaluation papers, and stationery) with a cleaner, updated look aiming to generate instant recognition and distinction from other groups with similar goals. Incorporation of the Institute’s revised image begins in April 2007 with the highly anticipated release of its policy report on immigrants and higher education.

“The Institute for Higher Education Policy is a recognized leader that requires an effective brand that complements and communicates its position of authority in the field of higher education policy both domestically and internationally,” said the Institute’s Managing Director of Communications and Marketing Tia T. Gordon. “The layout and design changes we’re incorporating aim to further connect with our target audiences—policymakers, industry experts and leaders, and funders—by offering a more meaningful experience with our research, evaluation, and policy expertise and products.”

Additionally, the Institute is redesigning its Web site (www.ihep.org) to illustrate the same modern-day branding to offer Internet browsers a more user-friendly online encounter. The new site—with an expected completion date of Fall 2007—is set to include simple navigation and new technology tools, such as blogs and podcasts.
