Building Public Will for College Completion in Metropolitan Areas
The Institute for Higher Education Policy (IHEP), through its management of the National Coalition for College Completion, held a special one-day event with key stakeholders and influencers to examine and document the role sectors outside of higher education play in leading and supporting localized college completion efforts. Memphis, TN has secured a high rate of participation by sectors outside the higher education space working in concert to support the city’s articulated college completion goals.
IHEP believes that these partnerships will provide rich information about how to successfully engage a range of stakeholders in city-based completion work. With the goals of prompting effective organizing strategies and building public will for college completion in metropolitan regions, IHEP seeks to examine how these initiatives, partnerships, and activities can be replicated and scaled to greatly improve the percentage of underserved students who complete postsecondary education degrees in our nation’s metropolitan regions.
