Sydney Carroll
Communications InternSydney Carroll is the Communications Intern at the Institute for Higher Education Policy (IHEP). In this role, she assists with social media and supports media relations, website management, and writing of blogs and newsletters.
Sydney is currently a sophomore at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. studying American Studies and Women & Gender Studies with a minor in Journalism. At school, she serves Features Editor at Georgetown’s student newsmagazine and as Director of Professional Development with Georgetown’s chapter of the College Democrats. She also loves walking dogs around the Georgetown neighborhood, playing club field hockey, and taking classes with ‘Women’ in the title.
During her time as a college student, Sydney has seen firsthand the impacts of the Supreme Court’s ruling regarding race-conscious admissions and the importance of creating equitable pathways for all students to earn a degree. She’s motivated by a desire to increase opportunities for students who have been historically underrepresented in higher education.
Prior to working at IHEP, Sydney served as the deputy campaign manager on a 2024 State Senate race in Nashville, Tennessee, and has interned on several other campaigns. She also (still) works at her family’s carwash in Franklin, Tennessee, where her parents
are her bosses and her siblings are her coworkers.
