IHEP and Over 70+ Organizations Urge Congressional Leaders to Fund the Institute of Education Sciences

Published Apr 07, 2025

Washington, DC (April 7, 2025) – IHEP joined more than 70 organizations in signing a letter to Congressional leaders expressing deep concern about recent actions by the Trump Administration that have undermined the Institute of Education Sciences (IES), the nation’s independent, nonpartisan research, evaluation, and statistics arm of the U.S. Department of Education. The letter also urges Congress to provide at least $900 million for IES in the FY 2026 appropriations bill and to ensure sustained funding in the FY 2025 continuing resolution. This investment is essential to preserve IES’s critical role in providing foundational evidence and the infrastructure needed to inform policy, support student success, and strengthen the nation’s education system.
