Edgar Lopez

Research Analyst

Edgar Lopez is a Research Analyst at the Institute for Higher Education Policy (IHEP). In this role, Edgar conducts research analysis and supports the development of publications, convenings, and presentations that explore racial and socioeconomic equity, postsecondary data and transparency, college access, affordability, success, and value. Prior to joining IHEP, Edgar served as a research associate at the University of Southern California’s Pullias Center for Higher Education.

Edgar holds a Ph.D. in Urban Education Policy from the University of Southern California. He also earned an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership and Policy from the University of Texas at Austin and dual bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and Chicana/o Studies, with a minor in Education, from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Edgar is a former recipient of the Gates Millennium Scholarship, funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and mentoring youth and college students, especially those from underserved communities. Edgar is passionate about advancing nationwide efforts to improve college access and increase degree attainment for underrepresented students.
