Joana Vargas is the Operations Manager at the Institute for Higher Education Policy (IHEP). In this role, Joana provides key logistics, office management, and administrative support across the organization. Prior to joining IHEP, Joana managed office operations and administration at Generation Hope, a nonprofit that advocates for student parents across the country.

Joana began her career in education, working in charter schools in New York City. Joana graduated from the City University of New York (CUNY) with a bachelor’s degree in economics and minor in business administration.

As a first-generation college graduate, Joana is passionate about higher education and is motivated by IHEP’s mission to make college education more attainable to students. Outside of work, Joana loves to travel with her friends and explore all the art exhibits and Smithsonian museums in D.C.
