Building Engagement and Attainment for Minority Students (BEAMS)

IHEP established Building Engagement and Attainment for Minority Students (BEAMS) to support minority-serving institutions (MSIs) in facilitating minority students’ participation in and completion of higher education. From 2003 through 2008, BEAMS fostered data-driven campus change initiatives at more than 100 of the nation’s four-year MSIs —Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Hispanic-Serving Institutions, and Tribal Colleges and Universities—and enhanced their capacity to collect and use data in order to increase student engagement and learning.
